Multiple fire crews were called to the incident at a business on Embankment Road

People have been urged to shut their windows and doors after a metal storage unit containing fuel burst into flames.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said multiple crews and seven fire engines were called to the incident at a business on Embankment Road in Plymouth at about 04:22 BST after thick black smoke was seen in the air.

The service said flames had been put out but crews remained at the scene to dampen down hotspots. It added that no-one was injured, and the road was closed but had since reopened.

Crews would also continue to monitor the levels of chemical and gas cylinders involved in the incident, it added.
