Elderly man seriously injured by dog off-lead

An elderly man has sustained potentially life-threatening injuries after a dog jumped at him, police said.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the 79-year-old man remains in hospital after a large black dog, which was not on a lead, jumped at him, causing him to fall and sustain a serious head injury.

The incident took place at about 09:15 BST on Saturday near The Sundial, in Armada Way, Plymouth.

Police are asking the owner of the dog, or anyone who helped at the scene who may have information, to get in touch.
