Jonathan Stocks, 48, and Kimberley Jowle, 38, were sentenced at Lincoln Crown Court on Friday

A man who raped a sleeping woman at a caravan park near Lincoln with the encouragement of his girlfriend has been jailed for nine years.

Jonathan Stocks, 48, from Sheffield, was found guilty of rape following a trial at Lincoln Crown Court.

His then partner, Kimberley Jowle, 38, from Sheffield, was convicted of assisting in the rape and two sexual assaults on the victim during the early hours of 28 May 2023.

She was sentenced to five years imprisonment.

A restraining order was also made preventing Stocks and Jowle from contacting the victim.

In an impact statement read by the victim in court, she said the two defendants had stolen her life and left her financially crippled due to her being unable to work.

"This is what you did to me," she said. "No safety, not even in my sleep. I wake up screaming, searching, to see if you're there.

"You raped me, now you haunt me," she said.

Passing sentence, Judge Catarina Sjolin Knight described Stocks as the "driving force" but said Jowle was "fully engaged".

Det Con Warwick Taylor said the pair had committed "a horrendous crime" and subjected the victim to "a harrowing ordeal".

"They will have to live with the impact of this crime for the rest of their lives, but I hope these sentences give them some sense of closure," he added.

Following the conclusion of the case, the victim said she would no longer allow what happened to define her.

"Tomorrow, I move on with my life," she added.
