A transporter laden with seven cars caught fire on the M1

A car transporter and its load of seven cars caught fire shutting the M1 in Leicestershire.

Multiple fire crews were called to the scene on the northbound side of the motorway, north of Catthorpe Interchange, Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said at about 18:00 BST on Monday.

The service, which is being assisted by fire crews from Warwickshire and Northamptonshire, said no injuries had been reported.

It said with the M1 shut entirely northbound and partially blocked southbound drivers should expect delays.
