Police given more time to quiz shooting suspects

Police investigating a shooting that left a man with a suspected gunshot wound have been granted more time to question two suspects.

Eight arrests in total were made after reports of a gun being fired on St Paul's Street, in the Gorse Hill area of Swindon in Wiltshire, just before 21:00 BST on 19 June.

A man in his 30s was taken to hospital, where he remains in a stable but critical condition.

Officers from Wiltshire Police have now been granted more time by Swindon Magistrates' Court to question a 20-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and a 19-year-old man arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.

Six others have been released on bail pending further investigations.

They include:

  • A 51-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder
  • A 30-year-old man arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder
  • A 32-year-old man arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and being concerned in the supply of Class C drugs
  • A 19-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender
  • A 33-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and possession with intent to supply nitrous oxide for wrongful inhalation
