Five people have been arrested after a man suffered a suspected gunshot wound.

Wiltshire Police was called to St Paul's Street in the Gorse Hill area of Swindon just before 21:00 BST on Friday after reports of a gun being fired. A man in his 30s was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The force said a cordon remained in place in St Paul's Street and Queens Drive while officers carried out their investigation.

The five suspects remain in custody for questioning, they added.

The five arrested people are:

  • A man, 51, who has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder
  • A man, 32, who has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and being concerned in the supply of class C drugs
  • A man, 19, who has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender
  • A man, 33, who has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and possession with intent to supply nitrous oxide for wrongful inhalation
  • A boy, 16, who has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and possession with intent to supply nitrous oxide for wrongful inhalation
