A man in his 80s was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital for treatment for head injuries

A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving after a seven-vehicle crash led to another man being taken to hospital.

Gloucestershire Police said officers were called to the scene on the A40 in Longlevens, Gloucester, at about 13:50 BST on Thursday.

The injured man, who is in his 80s, was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital for treatment for head injuries, and remains there in a stable condition.

The arrested man, who is in his 50s, was released under investigation.

Nobody else needed hospital treatment after the crash, and the A40 has reopened following a collision investigation at the scene.

Gloucestershire Police is appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
