A jack-knifed lorry has closed a section of the M6 in Lancashire, causing severe delays.

The lorry was involved in a collision on the southbound carriageway between junction 35 for Carnforth and 34 for Lancaster, with motorists warned of disruption.

National Highways said a fuel spillage was also reported, with emergency services called to the scene.

A spokesman told BBC Radio Lancashire one person was believed to have suffered a minor injury.

He said the recovery of the vehicle was proving complicated and they expected that section of road to be closed for at least "a few hours".

The northbound carriageway was closed for a period but has since reopened.
