The city's main thoroughfare has been partially closed since a huge fire badly damaged a former Debenhams store last month.

The council say the pouches will not be ready until next month at the earliest, as the new system is still being tested.

Work on the Category A-listed bridge, which links the Old and New towns of the capital, first started in 2018.

A bar owner in Leith says the suspended tram line and disruption is driving customers away from the area.

It is hoped the new unit will reduce the demand on frontline officers from other areas of the city and help to support planned city-centre events.

The legendary dance duo's headline slot will include a 30th anniversary performance of Trainspotting soundtrack, Born Slippy.

From August, pupils will have to put their devices in magnetically sealed pouches throughout the school day, including during breaks and lunchtime.
