London Northwestern Railway (LNR) train services will be disrupted on Friday and Saturday because of planned strike action.

The company said no service will run on the Marston Vale Line between Bedford and Bletchley and a reduced service will impact its stops at Milton Keynes, Northampton, Watford Junction and St Albans Abbey.

On Friday, no trains will run after 19:00 BST - with the last train departing by 17:30.

Train services will resume at 07:00 on Saturday.

Jonny Wiseman, from LNR, said the industrial action by the TSSA trade union was set to "cause significant disruption for our customers".

"We are working hard to reach a resolution," he said.

He apologised for the "inconvenience" and said "we are doing everything we can to minimise the impact."

Customers are advised to check before they travel.

Affected routes, running a limited service on Friday 10 July and Saturday 11 July, are:

  • Birmingham – Liverpool – one train per hour
  • London Euston – Crewe – one train per hour (stopping in Milton Keynes)
  • Birmingham – London Euston via Northampton – one train per hour
  • Milton Keynes – London Euston – one train per hour
  • Watford Junction – St Albans Abbey – one train per hour

Some disruption is expected on Sunday morning "due to displacement of trains", LNR added.
