Boy drowned while swimming in sea, inquest hears
Phillip Norton/BBCA 13-year-old boy who got into difficulty while swimming in the sea died from drowning, an inquest has heard.
The body of Abdi Zubeir was recovered on 5 August after "an extensive search operation" off South Promenade, Hornsea.
An inquest into his death was opened at East Riding and Hull Coroners service on Wednesday.
The hearing was adjourned to a date which is yet to be confirmed.
Phillip Norton/BBCEmergency services were called to the South Promenade at about 18:00 BST on Tuesday 4 August after reports that the 13-year-old had got into difficulty.
Teams from Humberside Police, HM Coastguard, Yorkshire Ambulance Service, Humberside Fire and Rescue, Hornsea Inshore Rescue and the RNLI were involved in the search.
The boy's body was recovered at about 04:30 on the Wednesday.
