Investigation after man stabbed in Ayr

Detectives are appealing for information after a man was stabbed in Ayr.

Police were called to an incident in the town's Davidson Place about 15:30 on Saturday, after receiving a report a man had been stabbed within a property.

Emergency services attended and the 57-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Officers say "extensive" inquiries are under way as they try to establish how the man came about his injuries.

Det Con Stewart Gordon said: "I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident to consider if they noticed or saw anything suspicious.

"Any small detail could help us, so please pass it on. I'd also ask anyone with dash cam or doorbell recording equipment to check their footage for any images which could assist our investigation."
