Arrest after reports of man with axe at Ayr beach

A suspect has been arrested following reports that a man was seen with an axe at Ayr beach.

The incident happened at about 22:50 on Wednesday.

Police Scotland said there were no reports of any injuries and a 48-year-old man was arrested and charged.

Officers added: "He was released on an undertaking to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court at a later date."
