Great Western Railway has altered some services from 11:00 to 20:00 BST due to the hot weather

Rail passengers are being warned that some trains between London Paddington, Reading and Oxford will be altered due to the continuing hot weather.

It means Great Western Railway (GWR) trains, which would normally call at Twyford, Maidenhead and Slough, will run non-stop between Reading and London Paddington in both directions and fewer direct trains will run to Oxford.

While services are disrupted between 11:00 and 20:00 BST, tickets can be used at no extra cost on the Elizabeth line to or from Twyford, Maidenhead or Slough.

Travelling to or from Slough, Maidenhead, or Twyford, passengers can travel via Reading if it provides a faster route to or from London Paddington.

GWR said the alterations were in place because the hot weather could cause points failures.

To reduce disruption, the train operator said some points had been be set in place to protect the route to and from London Paddington from major disruption.
