Second murder arrest after body found in caravan

A second person has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was found dead in a caravan in Leicestershire.

Police said emergency services were called to the caravan, which was parked in a lay-by on the A6 Derby Road in Loughborough, on Monday evening.

The man, who was in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene with subsequent inquiries finding he had reported being involved in an altercation in the days leading up to being found.

A 56-year-old man was detained on suspicion of murder before being released on bail, and on Thursday Leicestershire Police said a second suspect - a 42-year-old man - was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of the same offence. He remains in custody.

A cordon is still in place at the lay-by on the A6 northbound carriageway while forensic work is carried out, officers added.

Det Insp Mike Chander, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit, said: "We will continue our investigations today to work to understand the sequence of events that lead to this man's death.

"There is significant work going on including forensic inquiries, talking to witnesses and any CCTV opportunities."
