People are being asked for their views on plans to improve the safety of two road junctions in east Hull.

The city council proposals include new traffic lights, resurfacing and upgrading road marking and improving pedestrian crossings at the sites on Holderness Road.

Work on the Bellfield Avenue and Summergangs Road junctions will be paid for by the Department for Transport as part of a Safer Roads programme.

A six-week consultation process has been launched, which includes two public drop-in sessions.

Councillor Mark Ieronimo, cabinet portfolio holder for transport and infrastructure at Hull City Council, said: "The enhancements being proposed for these junctions will not only help us improve safety, but they will also have wider benefits for all those using the highway network in the Holderness Road area, whatever mode of transport they choose.

"The public engagement exercise provides the opportunity for residents, local business users, motorists and members of the travelling public to let us know their thoughts, so that we can refine our plans."

Details about the consultation is available on the council's website.
