More than 60,000 speeding offences were recorded at so-called "concern sites" across West Yorkshire last year, according to the combined authority.

Between April 2025 and March 2026, 64,195 offences were recorded at problem areas, including Flanshaw Way in Wakefield, Keighley Road in Bradford and Otley Road in Leeds.

The drivers were caught after safety camera vans were deployed to areas - known as community concern sites - where residents had reported issues.

West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA) figures showed seven people were killed and 69 were seriously injured in collisions where excessive speed was a factor in 2025.

Working with the region's councils, West Yorkshire Police and other partners, WYCA has set out its West Yorkshire Vision Zero Strategy, which is aimed at cutting road deaths and serious injuries to zero by 2040 locally.

Alison Lowe OBE, Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime, said: "All drivers travelling at safe speeds would be one of the most impactful changes that could be made to road safety.

"We'll continue to educate, raise awareness, and where necessary enforce the law as we continue to work towards a safer West Yorkshire.

"My thanks go out to those members of the public that have reported their concerns and I would encourage others to do so."

Between 1 September 2024 and 31 August 2025, West Yorkshire Police recorded 285,913 speeding offences in the county, most of which were in 30mph (50km/h) zones.
