Consultation on Children's Centres shake-up plans
East Riding of Yorkshire CouncilSupport centres for children and families in East Yorkshire could be moved into community venues such as schools and church halls, a council has said.
Children's Centres across the county are to become Family Hubs as part of a national change and East Riding of Yorkshire Council has launched a consultation asking people about what services and facilities they would like.
The centres currently offer health services, such as feeding advice, pre-birth support, education and play sessions.
Councillor Victoria Aitken, cabinet member for children, families and education, said the change was a "great opportunity to actually have a conversation with our residents and our service users".
She added: "The consultation is really to dig down into what our community is looking for, what they use today in the Children's Centres, what they value and what they would like to see in the Family Hubs as we develop the offer."
The consultation also asks about a proposal to use community venues, such as schools and church halls, to deliver some of the services, the council said.
Aitken said a "really positive trial" had been running at Woldgate School and College in Pocklington.
"We are getting a lot of people engaging with those services and being able to get into those services more easily and readily," she said.
A link to the survey is available on the council's website.
