Residents forced to leave their properties on Monday because of a gas leak have now been able to return home.

The ruptured gas main on Harvey Terrace in the Fordington area of Dorchester, Dorset, initially forced those in 30 homes to leave early on Monday, while others were left without power.

Most residents were able to return that night, but SGN said a small number remained out of their homes while the leak was fixed.

The gas distribution company said the repair was completed on Wednesday. It added that the cause of the leak was being investigated.

LDRS Police cordoned off the area at Fordington High Street where the gas leak was found. A policeman and a resident can be seen. Several cars are parked nearby. It is cloudy.LDRS
