The Humber Bridge Soapbox Derby saw 18 teams take part in a day of races

A host of colourful karts have competed in a high-energy race in the shadow of the Humber Bridge to raise money for charity.

The Humber Bridge Soapbox Derby took place at the Humber Bridge car park, in Hessle, and saw 18 teams take part.

The event was run by Hull 4 Heroes with all funds raised going towards supporting the veterans' charity .

Paul Matson, founder of Hull 4 Heroes, said: "It's an absolutely fantastic event. A fun day where people can see different karts coming down in different shapes and sizes, all having fun, all having a great time."
