A 61-year-old man has suffered life-threatening injuries after his mobility scooter was struck by a car at a busy junction in Rotherham.

The collision involved a white Toyota Estima at the junction of Centenary Way and Drummond Street at 20:45 BST on Thursday, South Yorkshire Police said.

The mobility scooter rider was taken to hospital, with the driver of the Toyota assisting the force with its investigation, officers said.

Police appealed for any witnesses or those with video or dashcam footage of the collision or the moments leading up to it to get in contact.
