In Pictures: Cute cubs, Buck Moon and Stonehenge

The sun continues to beat down on the West, with little sign of rain, leading to some dramatic images at places like Stonehenge.

But while summer is in full swing, football has returned with Ashton Gate hosting a bumper crowd for the visit of Newcastle.

Some new furry arrivals caused a stir at Longleat, while foodie fans have been feasting up on The Downs in Bristol.

There were also plenty of celebrations, with a charity awarded a large funding boost from the National Lottery and a university recognised for with a Green Flag Award for the 10th year in a row.

In memory: More than 21,000 fans paid tribute to Kevin Keegan before Bristol City beat Newcastle United 4-1 in a friendly at Ashton Gate on Wednesday.

It's a feast-ival: From the creators of Bristol's Feast On, Feast Live has been taking place on Clifton Down, mixing live music with food from local restaurants and street food vendors. The event finishes on Sunday with Becky Hill playing live.

Funding boost: Bristol-based charity Brigstowe, which supports those living with HIV, has been given £269,000 by the National Lottery Community Fund.

Tired trio: These four legged friends enjoyed a little relax together in Coalpit Heath in South Gloucestershire this week.

United support: Bristol and Weston Hospital Charity and Southmead Hospital Charity have officially merged to form one united charity partner for the newly formed Bristol NHS Foundation Trust.

Sunsets galore: The summer weather has meant we have been blessed with picture perfect sunsets aplenty, including this one in Portishead.

Across the city: Players and staff from Bristol City visited multiple locations on Thursday as part of the club's Giving Back Day, supporting charities and hospitals as well as Robins Foundation partners.

Nice work: The University of Bristol's Royal Fort Gardens has received a Green Flag Award for the 10th consecutive year. The award recognises excellence in management, sustainability and visitor experience.

Note-worthy: Hundreds of singers have been taking part in the annual Three Choirs Festival in Gloucester this week. Dubbed the longest-running choral music festival, the event included performances from internationally-recognised soloists and the Philharmonia Orchestra.

Life's a circus: The buck moon was seen over Giffords Circus. The event company are currently performing a run of their show Waterfield on Minchinhampton Common.

Railway revival: More than 60 volunteers celebrated the restoration of the old Dudbridge Station site on Sunday. The site opposite Dudbridge Hill has had debris cleared from the old platform, with the old railway sign re-painted and benches repaired.

First rain: Debbie, our weather watcher took this stunning sunset rainbow after a rain shower in Cirencester.

Milestone: Somerset NHS Foundation Trust says its spinal service at Yeovil Hospital is growing from strength to strength as over 300 patients are seen by the team since it opened in May 2025.

Flowering gardens: Frances Tophill has spent many years working in gardens with vulnerable adults, including adults with learning disabilities and mental health challenges. She will be at the Yeo Valley Garden Festival in September and is getting her garden ready.

Cracking cricket: Jake Ball of Somerset enjoyed a moment of celebration with team mate Archie Vaughan during the Metro Bank One Day Cup match between Somerset and Warwickshire at County Ground in Taunton on Sunday.

Marvellous music: Valley Fest in Chew Magna, near Bath, kicked off with four days of music and food offerings. Organiers are expecting 10,000 people to attend across the weekend.

The heat goes on: Rain is still desperately needed across the West, as shown by this aerial photograph of the parched landscape around Stonehenge.

Roarsome: Longleat is celebrating the arrival of two rare Amur tiger cubs born to parents Red and Yana, who are third time parents at the Wiltshire estate. The twins are just two weeks old.

Perfect parks: Swindon has marked 'Love Parks Week' with a series of pictures of the town's local green spaces. Councillor Jake Chandler wants people to realise how "special they are" and praised groups such as Mums on a Mission and Benjamin's Smile who work to make them more accessible.

Top cop: Wiltshire Police Sergeant Gemma Rutter has earned the Dan Cooper Memorial Award at this month's Wiltshire Police Force Awards. Based in Trowbridge, she was praised at the ceremony for a range of actions - including her vital work to organise a response to severe flooding in Bradford on Avon in 2024.
