Firefighters are continuing to tackle a large wildfire in Grimethorpe which began on Tuesday.

Crews were called to the incident just after 15:00 BST and remained on site overnight, with four crews still at the scene.

At its height, a total of 14 crews were in attendance at the fire off the A6195 Park Spring Road, near Grimethorpe Nature Reserve, with firefighters also dealing with the blaze on Springvale Road.

A South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said the fire covered a large area and had previously been thought to be two separate incidents. An investigation into the cause of the fire would take place once it has been extinguished, they added.
