Workers at a factory which makes packaging for medicines have ended strike action after securing a pay deal.

Since mid-May, Unite members at Amcor's plant in Cramlington, Northumberland, had been walking out on Mondays, following a dispute over pay which saw them turn down a previous offer.

The union said an "improved pay deal", worth 12.3% over three years, had been secured, alongside improvements to performance-related pay and bonuses.

Amcor said it welcomed the "constructive dialogue with trade union representatives that has led to this positive outcome", and added that operations had continued with no disruption "supported by the professionalism of our colleagues on site".

The union confirmed all further strike action had been cancelled.

Unite regional officer Craig Patterson thanked representatives and members saying: "Without their hard work and dedication this deal could not have been achieved."
