Events across Hull to tackle anti-social behaviour

Events are being held in Hull to encourage people to report anti-social behaviour (ASB).

The annual initiative, called Not Where I Live Week, will see the city council, police and fire service hosting surgeries, visiting communities and going door-to-door to speak to residents.

Councillor Ted Dolman said: "I would like to see our ASB reported figures increase, which is often quite a controversial thing to say.

"We're confident that if people report it and people let us know that it's happening, we can give them a good service."

More than 40 events are being held to coincide with the national ASB Awareness Week.

They began on Monday and will continue until 5 July, with a full programme available on the Hull City Council website.

Dolman, the council's portfolio holder for communities, suggested people often failed to report ASB because they thought they had to wait until it was an emergency.

"I think it's as much as an issue here as it is anywhere else across the country," he added.

"We think that if we can tackle the problem early before it spirals, we [will] always get a good outcome."

The council said residents could report ASB on the authority's website.
