New blue and amber bridge opens after repairs
Shropshire CouncilShrewsbury Town's colours have been painted on a newly repaired footbridge not far from the team's home ground.
The bridge, which allows pedestrians to cross Rea Brook between Meole Brace roundabout and the Brooklands pub, was put back into place by a crane on Saturday.
It was removed on 20 June, and a temporary blue structure was put in its place.
Shropshire Council said refurbishment work included repainting the bridge and installing new timber decking with terraced concrete steps on the embankment to provide safer access for inspectors.
Shropshire CouncilIt previously said that during cleaning, some defects to the steel were uncovered, which had since been repaired.
The authority added that the work would extend the bridge's lifespan, which was more cost-effective and sustainable.
The bridge is just over half a mile from the Croud Meadow stadium, and sees many fans walk over it on matchdays.
