Fifth teenager charged over fatal stabbing

A fifth teenager has been charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of a 17-year-old boy.

Bilal Nisar was found injured at Kingsway Recreation Ground in Luton at about 18:30 BST on Friday 21 July, and later died in hospital.

A 17-year-old was charged with murder, violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon. He was due to appear at Stevenage Magistrates' Court.

Four teenagers, a 16-year-old and three 17-year-olds, had already been charged with murder, violent disorder and possession of a bladed article. They have been remanded into custody.

Bilal's family said he was "an amazing brother, son, uncle and friend to us all".

"His kindness, sense of humour and unwavering loyalty were qualities that would light up any room he walked into."

Bedfordshire Police said it was still trying to find three teenagers who they suspected were involved.

Det Insp Caeva Taylor said: "Our investigation into this horrific incident continues, and while we are pleased to have made a number of significant arrests, we know there are a number of teenagers involved who have not yet been spoken to by our officers.

"We're appealing to anyone who was there to do the right thing and come forward.

"A 17-year-old boy has lost his life and a family left devastated."

She said the force knew that people might be unwilling to come forward "as they believe they are protecting their loved ones".

"We are urging you to talk to your sons, brothers, grandsons or nephews, and get them to do the right thing or to contact us and tell us what you know."
