Watch: Lifeboat collects owl found exhausted at sea
The moment when a tired barn owl began its journey back to dry land after being rescued at sea by sailors has been caught on camera.
BBC Look East joined Caister Independent Lifeboat on the mission, as they met another boat sailing near Norfolk that had captured the bird.
An Army crew taking part in a race around Great Britain and Ireland found themselves unexpectedly visited by the lost owl, while they were 70 miles (113km) off the coast of Newcastle.
Following liaison with the Barn Owl Trust, the North Sea transfer was arranged - and went to plan on Thursday.
