Train cancellations add to Belfast traffic disruption

Trains have been cancelled on the Bangor-Belfast railway line on Saturday.

The cancellations, between 09:35 BST and 11:25, are due to a broken down train, according to Translink.

Earlier, the public transport operator said the trains would be cancelled until 15:25 but, in an update, it said the routes "will be reinstated and will now run as scheduled".

Travel from Bangor to Belfast has been disrupted this weekend due to the M3 Lagan Bridge being closed until Sunday to traffic coming from east Belfast.

There were long tailbacks in the city two weeks ago when the bridge was closed in the opposite direction.

Delays and disruption are "inevitable" this weekend, according to the Department for Infrastructure (DfI).

Bangor FC who are due to play Glentoran at The Oval in east Belfast warned its supporters of the train cancellations.

"With heavy traffic congestion expected because of the M3 closure, supporters should now also be aware of [the train] cancellations," the club said on X.
