Georgia Stanway receives MBE from King Charles III
PA MediaLioness Georgia Stanway said being made an MBE was "surreal" after she received the honour from the King.
The 27-year-old midfielder, who plays for Bayern Munich but is originally from Barrow, Cumbria, was made an MBE for services to football after she won the 2022 and 2025 Euros and finished runner-up in the 2023 World Cup with England.
She met King Charles III at Windsor Palace on Tuesday and said they spoke about football, Munich, and Harry Kane.
"He's a massive football fan," she said.
Stanway is set to leave Bayern Munich this summer after four title-winning seasons in Germany.
She has been heavily linked to Women's Super League side Arsenal, a move that would see her return to English football, but she said reports she was heading to the Gunners were "just rumours".
"There's nothing fixed at the moment but of course coming back to England is very attractive," she said.
"I wanted to leave [Bayern Munich] with all positive memories and I think that's what I've done.
"I loved my time there.
"You never want to get to a point where you're not enjoying something and I think it was important that I take the next step in my career."
