Day of 'storytelling and creativity' at WordFest

A Lincolnshire town will host a day of literary events as part of WordFest.

Taking place in Gainsborough on Saturday 12 September, events will include children's theatre, family workshops, talks from authors and creative writing sessions.

The event, with activities for all ages, follows on from previous events in Welton, Nettleham and the Lincolnshire Wolds, including activities in Caistor and Market Rasen.

Councillor Owen Bierley, of West Lindsey District Council, described the event as a "wonderful celebration of creativity, storytelling and community".

He added: "It is fantastic to see such a varied programme of events taking place across the town, encouraging people of all ages to get involved, try something new and enjoy everything our district has to offer."

Highlights of the festival, which is free to attend, include a Winnie the Pooh family kite craft workshop, author Gillian Poucher presenting A Question of Perspective, and Helen Hagon exploring Lincolnshire: Home of Poets.

Isabelle Macpherson, of West Lindsey District Council, described the event as "a brilliant opportunity to bring people together through stories, creativity and shared experiences".

She said the council was "delighted" to support an event that "celebrates the important role that culture plays in strengthening our communities".

The full programme will be released in due course, with some events available to book in advance.
