Twenty houses in a quiet street were evacuated after the bomb squad was called to deal with a "suspicious item".

A resident found it in their front garden in Abram Close in Fallowfield, Manchester, just after 18:00 BST on Saturday.

Greater Manchester Police said the bomb squad advised "officers to evacuate as a precaution".

Residents were allowed back home just before midnight and investigations into the item continue.
