A man in his 80s has died in a house fire.

The police and fire service said they were investigating the cause of the fire at Poole Road in the Salterbeck area of Workington, Cumbria, on Thursday.

Emergency services were called to the scene at about 18:30 GMT and a police cordon remains in place.

Cumbria Police has asked anyone who witnessed the blaze or has footage from the scene to get in touch.
