Seven people were taken to hospital after a suspected arson attack at a house in Sheffield, police have said.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said crews were called to Wensley Court, in the north of the city, just after 01:30 GMT on Wednesday.

All occupants had made it out safely by the time firefighters arrived, a fire service spokesperson said, with some having escaped through a window.

The occupants were taken to hospital as a precaution and an investigation into the cause of the fire was now under way, they added.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said it was "believed that the fire was started deliberately" and that "enquiries remain ongoing".

Officers will be around in the area over the coming days, they added.
