A police officer has been charged with causing serious injury by careless or inconsiderate driving following a collision in Keighley.

West Yorkshire Police said PC James Heslop had been charged in connection with a crash on 13 March involving a marked police car and a VW Sharan in which five people were injured.

The 31-year-old, who was on duty at the time of the collision in Skipton Road, is due to appear at Leeds Magistrates' Court on 16 December.

The force said the officer, who is based at operational support, remained on duty but had had his advanced driving permit revoked pending the results of the investigation.
