Police appealed for anyone with information about the incident to get in touch

A teenager has been charged with multiple offences after three people were hurt in a stabbing incident.

Police said it happened at about 20:35 BST in East Oval, Kings Heath, Northampton, on Friday, where an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old were found with knife injuries.

The 18-year-old remains in hospital with serious injuries. Another man, 20, who sustained a minor injury, left the scene before officers arrived, the force said.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with wounding with intent, violent disorder and possession of a bladed article. Police said he was due to appear at Northampton Magistrates' Court on 8 June.

Detectives asked for anyone who had any information about the incident to contact the force.

Det Insp Gary Collins said the incident would have caused "a lot of concern in the local community" and members of the Northampton Neighbourhood Policing Team would remain in the area over the weekend.

"We know Kings Heath is a close-knit community, that was demonstrated last night by those people who assisted the victims at the scene and who spoke to our officers about what they'd witnessed," he added.

The force believes about six people were involved, with five wearing dark clothing and face coverings, and one a white T-shirt and shorts.
