The hit song Shining Light has "worked well in a lot of places", according to singer Tim Wheeler.

But in a BBC CBeebies studio alongside the puppet Dodge T. Dog for the channel's Big Songs for Little Learners series? Well, he did not quite envisage that.

Wheeler is the singer and guitarist for the band Ash, which was formed in Downpatrick in County Down in 1992.

Shining Light is one of 18 UK top 40 singles charts songs the band have had.

"It's a song that has a lot of positivity," Wheeler explained.

"In this episode, Dodge needs some confidence - which he gets back by us singing it together."

Shining Light reached number eight in the charts after its release in January 2001.

"I wrote it as a love song a long time ago," Wheeler said.

"But it's had a strange life of its own where it's worked in lots of different places!"

CBeebies is a children's television channel owned and run by the BBC.

Its content is targeted towards children aged six years and under.
