Three arrested after man stabbed in head and hands

A man has been treated for injuries to his head and hands after being stabbed in north Belfast.

It happened at Fortwilliam Park at about 20:40 BST on Thursday.

Three men were arrested and the PSNI said two police officers were assaulted when two of the men continued "to act in an aggressive manner when they arrived at custody".

The man who was stabbed was taken to hospital by ambulance after police provided first aid at the scene.

A 22-year-old was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm, assault on police and possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence.

A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm, assault on police and attempted criminal damage.

A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence and theft.

All three remain in police custody.

Police have appealed for anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened, or who has information – including dash-cam, CCTV or other footage – to contact them.
