A dispersal order has been put in place in Whitstable by Kent Police to deter antisocial behaviour.

The order, which covers areas including the town centre, seafront, and railway station, is active for 48 hours from 15:00 BST on Friday.

The force said patrols would also be carried out by neighbourhood policing teams in response to an expected increase in antisocial behaviour over the summer months.

Officers will have enhanced powers such as moving anyone over the age of 10, who is seen to be "carrying out nuisance behaviour", out of the area, said police.

If they return within a certain time limit, the force has said they are risking arrest.

Anyone under 18 can also expect to have alcohol confiscated from them, the force added.

Items suspected of being used to cause nuisance behaviour, such as music speakers, may also be taken during the 48-hour order.
