Thousands of people have braved the rain and wind for day one of Summer Fest at the Beach.

The festival on Weston-super-Mare Beach majors on noughties nostalgia, with the likes of Craig David, Dizzee Rascal and Blue performing over the weekend.

Saturday's line-up features Five, Dizzee Rascal and Scouting for Girls, among other artists, but many have chosen to perform shorter sets because of the weather, and Sophie Ellis-Bextor chose not to perform at all because of the adverse conditions.

Strong gusting winds in the afternoon also led to some breaks between performances.

Here are some of our photographs from day one.

Cloudy, rainy skies above a purple-lit stage, which tent roofs visible in the distance. There is a large crowd mostly dressed in waterproofs and ponchos.
