Sussex fire crews tackle waste transfer site blaze

People living near a waste transfer site in West Sussex are being advised to close their doors and windows as firefighters tackle a blaze in the area.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service says it is currently tackling the fire at the site in Ford Road, Ford after being called shortly after 10:00 BST on Friday.

A fire service spokesperson said eight fire engines and a water carrier have been sent to the scene.

"People are being advised to avoid the area and keep doors and windows closed if they live nearby", the service added.
