Man denies causing criminal damage to Roman wall

A 46-year-old man has denied intending to destroy or damage a Roman wall which is believed to date back to the year AD85.

Jason James pleaded not guilty to causing criminal damage to the scheduled ancient monument in Lincoln on 24 August last year.

Lincoln Magistrates' Court heard the damage to the wall, which belongs to City of Lincoln Council, was "to the value of £4,550".

James, who appeared via video link, will face a trial at the same court on 26 June.
