An altercation had reportedly happened before the car was driven at the man, police said

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a 20-year-old man was hit by a car, trapping him against a wall.

Police said the collision involved a white VW Polo outside the Co-Op in Fircroft Road, Ipswich, just before 22:00 BST on Friday.

The victim was taken to hospital with life-changing open leg fractures, and remained in a stable condition.

The two 20-year-old men detained for questioning had reportedly been in an altercation with him before the incident, police added.

The driver and passenger abandoned the car after the crash and fled the scene on foot.

Officers are keen to hear from anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam footage.
