Jessie J treated to schoolkids' version of her song

A group of young children performed Jessie J's hit song Flashlight after randomly bumping into the pop star while on a primary school trip.

Year five pupils from Masefield Primary School in Bolton, Greater Manchester, unexpectedly came across the singer while visiting Hampton Court Palace in London.

Because their school assembly song happens to be Flashlight, the youngsters spontaneously decided to serenade her with their own version.

"She was really kind and actually thanked us after and asked for a photo," head teacher Andy Done told BBC Radio Manchester. "It made us feel really proud. It was a surreal moment - it all happened so quickly. She was so genuine and kind with the children."

Done said one of his colleagues and a pupil had both "locked eyes" on Jessie outside the toilets at the tourist attraction.

"She was with her family, so initially I said no to the pupils asking her for a photo," the head teacher said.

But when the group bumped into the artist again, Done said they spoke to the singer, telling her "We sing one of your songs - thank you so much for making it."

Done said: "She asked the children which song it was, how it had come about.

"And then she went to sing the first line of the song and obviously all the children joined in and she sang along with us."

Done said his colleagues at Masefield Primary School would love Jessie to share their video with her followers on social media.
