Library to close for essential repairs to roof
GoogleA library in Derby is set to close temporarily for essential repairs to the roof of the building.
Derby City Council said Mackworth Library would close from 30 July, with the site scheduled to reopen later in the year.
The Labour-run authority said due to the works affecting the interior of the building, it was not possible to keep the library open safely while construction was under way.
It added that while the library was closed a new space for children would be created, the library's public computers replaced, and the inside of the building would be repainted.
The council said once the library reopens, opening hours would be extended to include Saturday mornings.
Sarah Chambers, cabinet member for communities, equality and public safety, said: "It's unavoidable that Mackworth Library must close temporarily for these essential roof repairs, and we appreciate the community's understanding and patience while the works are completed.
"We're making the most of this time to upgrade the interior for the local community."
