Woman held as police investigate quadruple stabbing
Police are continuing to investigate a stabbing in central London where four men were injured in what officers described as an "isolated, mental-health related" attack.
A 47-year-old woman is in custody following Wednesday's incident in Covent Garden, the capital's busy tourist area filled with bars, theatres and restaurants.
She was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, believed to be a pair of scissors, and assault.
Two men are being treated in hospital for injuries that are not life-threatening or life-changing and two more have been discharged. The injured men were aged 34, 39, 42 and 52.
PA MediaThe stabbings occurred near the St Mungo's homeless centre in Covent Garden.
A spokesperson for St Mungo's said on Thursday: "We are still investigating the incident with emergency services and conducting welfare checks on residents."
On Wednesday, Ch Supt Jason Stewart said: "While still at an early stage of the investigation, we would like to reassure the community that we currently believe this to be an isolated, mental-health related incident."
He said a "visible police presence" would remain in the area while evidence was gathered.
