The family of a pedestrian who died after being struck by a car have described him as "totally irreplaceable".

Peter Hudson was outside Nova Bar in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, when he was hit by a white Mercedes around 22:30 BST on 7 June.

The 61-year-old died at the scene, while the driver of the Mercedes, a 46-year-old from Darlington, is assisting with the investigation, North Yorkshire Police confirmed.

A family statement read: "We are devastated by the loss of our amazing Pete. Totally irreplaceable, kind, loving and hilarious.

"He was adored by family and friends, and meant something to everyone, but absolutely everything to us."

Police have encouraged anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward.
