Scooter rider seriously hurt in A38 crash

A motor scooter rider has suffered serious injuries in a crash with a car on the A38 in Derby.

Emergency services were called to the westbound carriageway between Toyota Island and Findern Island, just after 13:00 BST on Sunday.

Derbyshire Police said the man, who is in his 60s, was taken to hospital where he remained, but no-one else was injured. The force originally stated the crash involved a motorcycle but has since clarified it was a scooter.

Officers have urged anyone who witnessed the crash and motorists with dashcam footage to contact police.
