Pictures show scale of large barn fire in village

Pictures have shown the scale of a barn blaze in Derbyshire that destroyed a large amount of hay and straw.

Melbourne On-Call Fire Station posted the images on social media after fighting the fire in Twyford Road, Barrow Upon Trent, shortly after 15:00 BST on Thursday.

Six engines and two water carriers were sent to the scene to tackle the blaze.

Two crews, from Alfreton and Long Eaton, remained at the scene overnight and continue to damp down and monitor conditions into Friday.

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service has said locals should keep their windows and doors closed if they see or smell smoke.
