Operator sought to run crematorium shut since 2020
BCP CouncilA council is searching for a new crematorium operator six years after the facility closed due to equipment failure.
Poole Crematorium has continued to hold services in Halo Hall but cremations have been taking place in Bournemouth.
The £24m, 20-year contract with Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole Council (BCP) would see the cremation facility in Gravel Hill reopen.
Interested companies have until 17 July to submit their bids with a decision expected by 1 February 2027.
It is understood that 10 interested parties have expressed an interest in running the crematorium.
Communities councillor Sandra Moore said: "We know our residents want to see Poole Crematorium fully operational again.
"This is seeking options from the industry to secure new investment in the continued operation and maintenance of cremation facilities in the town for years to come and improve the service we can offer bereaved families."
